BEP aims to start production in 2014

Indonesia coal mining company Bhakti Energi Persada (BEP) is expected to start coal production in 2014, one year delayed from the initial target of 2013, a source at the company told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
The source said that the maiden production has to be delayed because construction of the necessary infrastructure facilities has yet to be completed. The company said that initial output was estimated at 2 million tons.
?The maiden production may have to be delayed for about a year because the construction of the infrastructure facilities has yet to be completed. Hopefully, it would progress as planned,? the source said.
BEP is the holding company of seven coal mining companies, with contagious coal concession forming one very large coal deposit located in the Muara Wahau District, Kutai Timur Regency, East Kalimantan.
The concessions lie comfortably between the Telen River to the west and the Wahau River to the East. The distance to the east coast of Kalimantan, as the crow flies is some 100 kilometres and 180 kilometres to Samarinda the provincial capital. Total resources of BEP is 9.528 billion tons with the reserves of 5.6 billion tons of low rank coal. The concession covers a total area of 33,971 hectares.
The seven subsidiaries of BEP are PT. Telen Eco Coal, PT Persada Multi Bara, PT Khazana Bumi Kaliman, PT Bumi Kaliman Sejahtera, PT Bumi Murau Coal, PT Tri Panuntun Persada, and PT Birawa Pandu Selaras.
