Bitung seeks investor to develop power plant

The Bitung Mayoralty in North Sulawesi is seeking investor to develop a planned 10 MW coal-fired power plant in a bid to increase power supply amid growing demand particularly from industries, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.
Bitung Deputy Mayor Max J. Lomban said that the planned coal-fired power project will require an estimated investment of Rp 180 billion.
He added that the mayoralty administration has acquired the necessary land for the project. He added that private companies and state-owned enterprises are welcome to finance the power plant project.
In the longer term, Max said that the Bitung administration plans to develop a geothermal power plant project in Dua Saudara Mountain, which is estimated to have a capacity of 200 MW. (*)
