BKPM to help speed up power projects

The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) will help resolve bottlenecks faced by 10 power plant projects and one power transmission project with combined investment value of Rp 146.59 billion particularly by speeding up the permitting procedure, said Chairman Franky Sibarani as quoted by reports on Wednesday.

The paper said that the 10 power plant projects, with a combined capacity of more than 8,000 MW, comprises of six coal-fired plants, two hydro power plants, one geothermal and one gas fired, located North Sumatra, Jambi, Central Java, Riau Islands, Bali and Bengkulu.

BKPM Deputy Chairman, Tamba Hutapea said that in addition to land acquisition problem, the projects have been hampered by permitting procedure. (*)
