Construction of Simbolon Samosir geothermal power plant to start next year

The Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said on Wednesday that construction of a planned 110 MW Simbolon Samosir geothermal power plant in North Sumatra will start next year.

The directorate, however, did not provide further details about the project.

The directorate said that the government has set a target to bolster geothermal power plant capacity in the country to 7,239 MW by 2025 from the current capacity of 1,493.5 MW.
