Japan?s Fuji Electric said it will supply two units of geothermal steam turbines and generators to PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, a geothermal energy subsidiary of Indonesia?s state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, each with a power generation capacity of 20,000 kW. The production is to be completed by the end of year 2016.

Fuji Electric said in a statement last week that it has been awarded the contract through Sumitomo Corporation of Japan which forms a consortium with PT Rekayasa Industri, an Indonesian state-owned engineering company, to win and undertake an EPC contract from PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy for units five and six at the Lahendong Geothermal Area.

The units will be constructed in Minahasa district, central part of North Sulawesi Province, at the northern part of Sulawesi Island.

Indonesia has the world?s largest resources of geothermal energy and the country continues its drive to exploit geothermal energy. At the Lahendon Geothermal Area, the company, in collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation and Rekayasa, has successfully delivered three units of geothermal steam turbines and generators for units two, three and four.
