The government has targeted the installed capacity of the country?s geothermal power plants to increase by 1,751 MW in five-year period of 2015-2019, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said in a statement on Friday.

In 2015, PLTP Kamojang-Drajat increased capacity by 35 MW. In 2016, 274 MW new capacities are expected to come onstream from five geothermal power plants, including 55 MW from PLTP Lumut Balai, 30 MW from PLTP Karaha, 114. MW from PLTP Sarulla, 20 MW from PLTP Lahendong and 55 MW from PLTP Ulubelu.

Next, in 2017, 263.5 MW new capacities are scheduled to come onstream, including 55 MW from PLTP Ulubelu, 118.5 MW from PLTP Sarulla, 20 MW from PLTP Lahendong, 70 MW from PLTP Liki Pinawangan Muaralaboh.

In 2018, 633.5 new capacities are expected to come onstreram, including 118.5 MW from PLTP Sarulla, 55 MW from PLTP Lumut Balai, 55 MW from PLTP Hululais, 20 MW from PLTP Tulehu, 220 MW from PLTP Rantau Dedap, 110 MW from PLTP Gunung Rajabasa, 55 MW from PLTP Dieng.

IN 2019, 545 MW new capacities are scheduled to come onstream, including 110 MW from PLTP Gunung Rajabasa, 55 MW from PLTP Dieng, 55 MW from PLTP Sungai Penuh, 55 MW from PLTP Hululais, 55 MW from PLTP Lumut Balai, 60 MW from PLTP Karaha, 45 MW from PLTP Cisolok-Cisukarame, 110 MW from PLTP Pangalengan.

Indonesia?s geothermal potentials are estimated at 29,452 MW. However, until 2015, only 1,438.5 of the potentials have been developed.
