The paper quoted Director of Geothermal at the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy, Yunus Saifulhak as saying that the repeat tender is expected to be held in the fourth week of September.
He said that an earlier tender held in August was only participated by one company namely PT Sari Prima Energi, thus failing to meet the criteria for the number of participants.
The Danau Ranau geothermal working area, with a potential to produce electricity with capacity of up to 110 MW, is located in Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan and Lampung Barat regencies, located in two provinces of Lampung and South Sumatra with area size of 8,561 ha and probable resources of 210 MW.
The government announced July 29 tender for Danau Ranau late in July along with four other geothermal working areas with combined power generation potentials of 730 MW.
Indonesia has geothermal resources of 29,475.5 MW, scattered in 324 locations. However, of the potentials, only 1,438.5 MW has been developed, according to government statement issued in July. (*)
