Government unveils tender for Gunung Lawu, Danau Ranau geothermal areas

The Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources unveiled Wednesday prequalification tender for the Gunung Lawu and Danau Ranau geothermal working areas, located in Java and Sumatra.

The directorate general said in tender announcement that the Gunung Lawu geothermal working areas, located in Karanganyar, Sragen, Wonogiri (Central Java), and Ngawi (East Java) regencies, covers about 60,030 hectares with estimated probable reserves of 195 MW. The government plans to develop a 165 MW geothermal power plant in the area, with commercial date of operation (COD) targeted in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Danau Ranau geothermal areas, located in Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan regency (South Sumatra), and Lampung Barat regency (Lampung), covers a total of 8,561 hectares with estimated probable reserves of 210 MW. The government plans to develop 110 MW geothermal power plant with COD target in 2022.

The directorate general said that interested bidders can get the tender registration document on July 7-14 at its office on Jl Pegangsaan Timur No. 1, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Documents and other requirements must be submitted on July 27-August 21, it added.
