Govt to create energy resilience fund

The government will create a special agency that will manage the so-called Energy Resilience Fund to help industry players in providing energy for the public, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said said on Monday.

?The agency will become a public service agency,? the minister said during a press gathering, adding the formation of the agency is called for in Energy Law No 30/2009, the minister said.

According to him, the Energy Resilience Fund will be provided for investors to reduce their risks in developing energy in Indonesia. The fund will be made available for selected companies such as power firms which want to develop renewables such as geothermal, wind, solar, hydro, bioenergy, sea current for power generation; oil, gas and coal firms which adopt green technology . ?Besides, firms which provide electricity to people in outlying areas using innovative clean technologies,? he said.
