Govt unveils PQ tenders of 4 geothermal projects

The Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources unveiled on Wednesday preq-qualification (PQ) tender for the development of four geothermal working areas.

Yunus Saifulhak, the director of geothermal at the directorate, said on Wednesday that the four geothermal working areas are as follows:

1. Working area: Graho Nyabu
Location: Merangin and Kerinci regencies in Jambi province.
Area Size: 109,000 Ha
Estimated reserve: 200 MW
Estimated geothermometer: 236?C
Development capacity plan: 110 MW
Development scheme: Total Project
Ceiling price: 15.9 US cents per kWh (based on the energy and mineral resources ministry?s regulation (Permen ESDM) No.17/2014).
Commercial Operation Date (COD) target: 2025

2. Working area: Gunung Hamiding
Location: North Halmahera, North Maluku province.
Area size: 42,100 Ha
Estimated reserve: 265 MW
Estimated geothermometer: 250?-300?C
Development capacity plan: 20 MW
Development scheme: Total Project
Ceiling price: 22.6 US cents per kWh (based on the energy and mineral resources ministry?s regulation (Permen ESDM) No.17/2014).
Commercial Operation Date (COD) target: 2024

The tender of Graho Nyabu and Gunung Hamiding was announced on Sept. 20, 2016 with final registration on Oct.20, 2016.

The tender is conducted in two stages:
1. First stage is a prequalification to shortlist participants based on financial and technical aspects.
2. Second stage is to select winner based on lowest power price offering and conformity with work program and exploration commitment.

The investment for development of the two working areas is at US$ 520 million or about Rp 6.8 trillion.

3. Working area: Gunung Galunggung
Location: Regencies of Tasikmalaya and Garut, and mayoralty of Tasikmalaya, West Java.
Area size: 57,330 Ha
Estimated reserve: 160 MW
Estimated geothermometer: 250-300?C
Development capacity plan: 110 MW
Development scheme: Total Project.
Ceiling price: 15.5 US cents per kWh ((based on the energy and mineral resources ministry?s regulation (Permen ESDM) No.17/2014).
Commercial Operation Date (COD) target: 2024

4. Working area: Gunung Wilis.
Location: Regencies of Nganjuk, Kediri, Tulungagung, Ponorogo, and Madiun, East Java province.
Area size: 20,840 Ha.
Estimated reserve: 50 MW
Estimated geothermometer: 200? C
Development capacity plan: 2 x 10 MW
Development Scheme: Total Project
Ceiling price: 15,9 US cents per kWh (based on the energy and mineral resources ministry?s regulation (Permen ESDM) No.17/2014).
Commercial Operation Date (COD) target: 2025

The tenders of Gunung Galunggung and Gunung Wilis will be announced on Sept. 27, 2016 with final registration on Oct. 27, 2016.

The tenders will be conducted in two stages:
1. First stage is a pre-qualification to shortlist participants based on financial and technical aspects.
2. Second stage is to decide winner based on the lowest price offering and conformity to work program and exploration commitment.

The investment needed for the development of the two working areas US$ 520 million or about Rp 6.8 trillion.
