Jokowi to inaugurate Kamojang unit 5 geothermal power plant

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to inaugurate the operation of the Kamojang unit 5 geothermal power plant in West Java on Sunday, said state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communications Wianda Pusponegoro.

Wianda was quoted by liputan6.com as saying that the capacity of the Kamojang unit 5 is 2x30 MW, which will strengthen power supply in Java-Bali system.

The Kamojang area was in operation for the first time in 1982. Current total capacity of the geothermal power plant (PLTP) is 200 MW. A total of 140 MW (units 1, 2, and 3) is owned and operated by PLN, and PLTP unit 4 of 60 MW is owned and operated by PT PGE (total project), a subsidiary of Pertamina. (*)
