Independent power producer PT Jabar Rekind Geothermal (JRG) hopes to soon start development of the long-delayed Cisokok-Sukarame geothermal power plant in Sukabumi, West Java, after it has recently obtained the necessary geothermal permit from the government.

JRG President Director Soko Sandi Buwono was quoted by kompas.com as saying Friday that the geothermal permit would allow the company to start exploration activities at its geothermal concession.

He said that according to a 2010 survey made by consultant Italy-based ELC Electroconsult S.p.A, the Cisokok-Sukarame geothermal concession has the capacity to produce up to 50 MW of electricity. Based on the results of the survey, the company completed a feasibility study for the project in 2011.

Aside from starting exploration work, the company will also develop support infrastructure facilities such as road. Soko added that in the near future, the company will meet with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN to sign the power purchase agreement. (*)
