Medco commences initial drilling for geothermal power plant project

PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal, a subsidiary of IDX-listed energy company PT Medco Energi International Tbk, started initial drilling for a geothermal power plant project in Bondowoso, East Java, on January 10, 2016.
Commissioner of the company Fazil Erwin Alfitri told Petromindo.com that the drilling with slimhole technique at two points is conducted to determine the amount of geothermal potential that can generate 110 megawatts of energy.
"The first slimhole drilling was carried out yesterday, followed by slimhole number two," he said.
Fazil, who is also President Director of PT Medco Power Indonesia, hopes both slimholes to give good results so that the two sources of full scale exploration can be implemented.
