MEMR appoints PLN to carry out geothermal preliminary survey

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has issued new Minister Decree No 2363K/30/MEM/2014 appointing state-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to carry out geothermal preliminary survey in Ulumbu, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province.

According to a copy of the decree obtained Friday, PLN will carry out geothermal preliminary survey covering an area of 38,00 hectares for a period of 12 months at the latest (starting April 17, 2014).

The job cannot be transferred to another party. But if PLN fails to start the job within one month, the assignment is no longer valid.

All expenses related to the preliminary survey work are shouldered by PLN, says the decree, which also stipulates a set of obligations that must be fulfilled by PLN, which if the company fails to fulfill will result the minister revoking the decree.
