MEMR issues new regulation on purchasing price of geothermal electricity

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) Jero Wacik has issued new Minister Regulation No 17/2014 on the price of electricity purchased by state-owned electricity firm PT. PLN from geothermal power plants.
According to the copy of the regulation obtained on Wednesday, as part of tender of geothermal working areas, a ceiling benchmark purchasing price is determined by taking into account the commercial operation date (COD) of the geothermal power plant and the working area of the geothermal concession.
Working Area I covers Sumatra, Java and Bali regions. Working area II covers Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Halmahera, Maluku, Papua, and Kalimantan, while working area III covers isolated areas in Working Area I and II, where the electricity supply mostly come petroleum-fuel power plants.
Following is the ceiling benchmark price of electricity purchased by PLN from geothermal power plants.
