Ministry assigns Mataloko geothermal area to PLN

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has issued a decree assigning the Mataloko geothermal working area in Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

The ministry?s Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy said in a statement Thursday that the decree was handed over to PLN on Monday.

The Mataloko geothermal working area covers around 996 hectares. PLN plans to develop three units of geothermal power plants, the first with a capacity of 1x2.5 MW, while the second and third 2x10 MW.
