Ministry reschedules tender of Gunung Lawu, Danau Ranau geothermal projects

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced last week that the prequalification tender for the Gunung Lawu geothermal working areas in Java, and Danau Ranau geothermal working areas in Sumatra has been rescheduled.

The ministry said that the schedule for bidders to obtain registration document has been rescheduled to July 7-August 24 (from previous schedule of July 7-14). The new schedule for PQ tender registration and submitting the documents along with other requirements via the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy has been set for August 3-31 (from previous schedule of July 27-August 21).

The Gunung Lawu geothermal working areas, located in Karanganyar, Sragen, Wonogiri (Central Java), and Ngawi (East Java) regencies, covers about 60,030 hectares with estimated probable reserves of 195 MW. The government plans to develop a 165 MW geothermal power plant in the area, with commercial date of operation (COD) targeted in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Danau Ranau geothermal areas, located in Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan regency (South Sumatra), and Lampung Barat regency (Lampung), covers a total of 8,561 hectares with estimated probable reserves of 210 MW. The government plans to develop 110 MW geothermal power plant with COD target in 2022.
