The Ministry of Finance has issued Minister Regulation No 26/PMK03/2015, providing opportunity for oil and gas, and geothermal industry players to improve or clarify data related to payment of land and building tax (or better known as PBB).

Kontan reported Thursday that any differences of data that had led to underpayment of the tax in the past would not be given any sanctions. Industry players are expected to take advantage of this facility as the leniency would only be valid for a certain period, after which misreporting of PBB data will be subject to sanction.

Spokesman of the Directorate General of Taxation, Wahju Karya Tumakaka said that this facility is expected to help the oil and gas and geothermal industry players, which operate vast areas, to be able to properply pay their PBB taxes, and to help avoid tax dispute.

The new policy is part of the policy introduced last year, which exempted the PBB tax for industry players still at exploration stage. (*)
