Patuha unit I to start operation October

The first unit of the Patuha geothermal power plant (55 MW) in Bandung, West Java, is expected to start operation in October of this year, said Director General of New and Renewable Energy Rida Mulyana.

?Next month Patuha will enter synchronization stage of about 3-4 days ? then commercial of date in October,? Rida said in a statement obtained Tuesday.

Groundbreaking for the first unit of the Patuha geothermal power plant project was made in May of 2012 by PT Geo Dipa Energi. Cumulative electricity production plan for one year is 482 Gwh. The electricity output will be distributed to the Java-Madura-Bali electricity transmission network of the state-owned electricity firm PLN.

Total investment of the first unit is estimated at US$144.22 million.

The power plant was built by a consortium comprising of Marubeni Corporation of Japan, and PT Matlamat Cakera Canggih.
