Pertamina ready to expand investment in renewables

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has planned to build 1,130 MW power plants using renewable energies as fuel and produce 1.28 million kl of biofuel by 2019 as part of its supports to the government?s new and renewable energy program.

The government has targeted to portion of new and renewable energies in the national energy mix to reach 23 percent by 2025.

The 1,130 MW power plants will consist of 907 MW e geothermal power plants, 60 MW solar photovoltaic and wind power plants, 50 MW biomass power plants, 45 MW mini/micro hydropower plants, 3 MW ocean energy power plants. The 1.28 million kl biofuel will consist of 0.58 million kl per year of green diesel, 0.14 million kl per year of green diesel co-processed by the firm, 0.23 million kl per year of green gasoline co-processed by the firm, 257,000 kl per year of bio jet fuel, 76,000 kl per year of bioethanol, and 10 tons per day bio LNG plant, Pertamina said in a statement on Wednesday.

Pertamina?s Director of Gas, New and Renewable Energy Yenny Andayani said Pertamina will spend a total of US$1.5 billion in capital expenditures for all the projects, except for the geothermal projects, until 2019.
