PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) has drilled the UBL-R2/1 well within the Ulubelu geothermal working area in Lampung.

PGE said in a statement obtained Monday that the well was spudded on December 12, with a target depth of 2,500 MMD (meter measured depth). The drilling program is expected to be completed in 49 days.

The company hopes to start commercial production at the Ulebelu geothermal working area within next two years, which would become its second biggest asset after the legendary Kamojang field in West Java.
