PGE to drill 3 exploration wells in Sumatra next year

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero),is planning to drill three exploration wells in its two geothermal areas nextyear, according to a top official of the firm.

"So in addition to PGE?s planned drilling of 23 development wells in 2016, we will also conduct exploration drilling on three wells,"PGE's President DirectorIrfan Zaenuddin told Petromindo.com.

He explained that two of the three exploration wells are located at Sungai Penuh working area in Jambi, which is planned to be drilled in Feb.2016, and another well at Bukit Daun area in Bengkulu, which is planned to be drilled in August 2016.

"So PGE is not only doing activities in existing areas, but also conducts exploration activities to increase our geothermal reserves," he said.
