PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), plans to drill one semi exploration geothermal well in North Sulawesi in the fourth quarter of this year to support the planned PLTP Lahendong unit-7 geothermal power plant.

?This year, PLTP Lahendong will only conduct drilling of one make-up or semi-exploration well, which is estimated to be carried out in the fourth quarter (Q4),? President Director of PGE Irfan Zaenuddin said to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

PLTP Lahendong unit-5 and unit-6 were inaugurated on December 27, 2016. Irfan said earlier that for the planned Lahendong unit-7, the company was still at the exploration stage.

The PLTP Lahendong unit-5 and unit-6 have a generation capacity of 2 x 20 MW, with a total investment of US$7 million per MW. Combined with unit 1-4, the total generation capacity of PLTP Lahendong is 120 MW.
