PLN accelerates development of 500 KV transmissions in northern Java

State utility PT. PLN will develop the 500 kilo Volt (kV) transmission at a length of 386 kilometer along norther part of Java.

It was ensured on Wednesday with the signing of the procurement contract of the extra high-voltage grid (SUTET) of 500 kV Tx (Mandirancan) at a length of 182 kilometer from coal-fired power plant (PLTU) Indramayu, and the SUTET of 500 kV from PLTU Indramayu to Cibatu (Deltamas) at a length of 204 kms.

PLN?s Central part of Java Business Director Nasri Sebayang said in a press release on Wednesday that with the development of the two SUTET, PLN will be able to channel 8,220 Megawatt (MW) to the public. The two transmission contracts will cost PLN a total of Rp 2.3 trillion. It is aimed to support the government?s mega power project of 35,000 MW that is expected to be realized within five years (2014-2019).

Previously on March 17, 2017, PLN had also signed six procurement contracts of 500 KV transmissions at a total length of 928 km in northern Java. The six contracts are as follows:
1. SUTET 500 kV Tx (Ungaran Pedan) ? Batang
2. SUTET 500 kV Batang ? Mandirancan Section-1
3. SUTET 500 kV Batang ? Mandirancan Section-2
4. GITET (Sub-station) 500 kV Batang Ext
5. GITET 500 kV Indramayu
6. GITET 500 kV Cibatu Baru Ext

With the development of the transmissions, PLN will be able to channel a total of 8,220 MW from PLTU Indramayu (2x1.000 MW), PLTU Jawa 1 (1x1.000 MW), PLTU Jawa 3 (2x660 MW), PLTU Jawa Tengah (2x950 MW) and PLTU Jawa 4 (2x1.000 MW).
