State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is set to start next month the development of the Tulehu geothermal power plant project with planned capacity of 2x10 MW on Ambon Island, Central Maluku.
PLN Business Director for Maluku and Papua Region, Haryanto WS told Petromnido.com on Monday that the company will start with drilling of four geothermal wells. ?The contract has been recently signed. Mobilization of equipment has been started for planned drilling in May,? he said.
He added that PLN has appointed Halliburton to carry out the drilling program, and has allocated US$30 million for financing the program.
With the additional four production wells, the Tulehu geothermal power plant project will have five geothermal wells including one injection well, which was drilled in 2011.
Haryanto said that the Tulehu geothermal power plant project is targeted to start operation in 2019. ?Drilling program is expected to be completed in 2018, to be followed with FS (feasibility study) and hope to start operation in 2019,? he said.
