Production tests carried out at the Surrulla geothermal project in North Sumatra showed that each well at the project can produce between 25-30 MW of power.

Faizal Erwin Alfitri, President Director of PT Medco Power, a member of the Sarulla Operation Limited (SOL) consortium that owns the project, said SOL has selected seven new production wells. Production tests carried out on four of the seven wells indicate each of the wells can produce between 25 MW and 30 MW.

?This is a positive result. We are optimistic the project can be completed on time,? he said.

The Sarulla geothermal power project is located in Tapanuli Utara Regency, North Sumatra. SOL plans to build a 3x110 MW power plant there. The first unit of the power plant project is scheduled to begin commercial operation in 2016, the second unit in 2017, and the third in 2018.

SOL comprises of PT Medco Power, Itochu, Kyushu and Ormat Technologies.
