South Sumatra Province's output could reach 25 million tons in 2013

South Sumatra province is predicted to produce 25 million tons of coal in 2013. MS Marpaung, former director of mining, technique and environmental for Mineral, Coal and Geothermal at Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said that the coal will be produced by PTBA as much as 17 million tons, while the rest of 8 million tons will be produced by 8 other IUP coal mining holders in South Sumatra.
Marpaung in his presentation at IHS McCloskey Asia Pacific Coal Outlook Conference 2012 in Bali added that by October 2012, South Sumatra province had produced about 17 million tons, with the target of 21 million tons for the year, while production the year before was about 20 million tons.
He said the produced coal having calorific value of 5600-7000 kcal/kg comes from Lahat and Muara Enim while the coal with lower CV from Musi Banyuasin and Musi Rawas.
