Secretary of the Semarang Regency administration Gunawan Wibisono was quoted by Kompas.com as saying Wednesday that one of the geothermal power plant projects called Gunung Ungaran geothermal power plant will be located in Bandungan District, which will be developed by PT Giri Indah Sejahtera.
Another potential project is located in the Gunung Telomoyo area in Getasan District, he said.
But he added that the Gunung Ungaran project is set to be developed first at tender process and socialization program to the public have been completed.
The two projects are deemed crucial to help avoid power crisis in the region in the near future particularly as the planned coal-fired 2x1,000 MW Batang power plant project, also in Central Java, has been facing continued delays due to land acquisition problem. (*)
