Webinar series
2021 Indonesian Nickel Industry
Investing in sustainable nickel projects
Background
Indonesia has banned the export of nickel since early last year as part of the government’s efforts to push for the development of nickel-based downstream industries including battery manufacturing for electric vehicles.
President Joko Widodo said his administration would over the next five years focus on developing domestic nickel downstream industry to take advantage of the country’s huge nickel reserves.
As the world’s largest nickel reserves, Indonesia also aims to become a major player in the global EV battery supply chain. Nickel is a key material in making lithium batteries for electric vehicles (EV).
A number of world’s industry giants such as South Korea’s LG and China’s Contemporary Amperex Tech Co Ltd have previously announced their plans to set up integrated EV battery plants in Indonesia.
The massive development of nickel sector and downstream-related industry of electricity vehicles battery has also attracted supporting companies to diversify its markets to nickel sector.
Coal and Mineral Asia Magazine and PT Indonesia Komoditas Index (IKI) would jointly host webinar series on nickel and downstream industry via online.
The webinar will present key policy makers to give update on the government’s policy and investment opportunities on nickel industry and downstream sector.
We also present speakers from key players of nickel and smelting companies and noted analysts to highlight the future of nickel’s price and demand and supply trend.
The webinar series would explore
