A Gateway to Indonesian Port Investment

Unfolding the Untouched Maritime Opportunities

Concerns on infrastructure development in Indonesia has risen significantly since the President Jokowi was come to the office in 2014. President put his much attentions on to large parts of basic infrastructure such as roads, airports, and especially seaports. President unveiled a program called 'Marine Highway' which implicitly means improvement for better maritime infrastructure soon after he assembled the administration.

This program is poised to revitalize every aspects of maritime infrastructure, including ports and its supporting aspects. The marine highway program also aims to improve connectivity of the archipelagic economy so as to reduce the high logistics costs that have undermined the competitiveness of the Southeast Asia's largest economy. The sea highway program envisages the upgrading of six ports into international ports, and the development of 24 new commercial sea ports in the country to facilitate the flow of goods. This marine highway initiative has attracted the attention of various stakeholders including investors both at home and overseas as they await how the government would realize the plan and anticipate new business opportunities.

Yet, to support this program, Indonesian government has scheduled to amend several regulations which barricaded much private investment in sea infrastructure. As a result, in 2016, there is one pure private company which has been awarded a concession to own and manage a port in one of area in Sumatra Island. Tangent to the development of seaports, government also has officiated many Special Economic Zones (KEK), which is programmed to lure manufacturing industries to develop the area. By design, KEK will get special treatments in fiscal aspects such as tax exemptions and tax holidays.

This conference will bring you nearer to the stakeholders and policymakers of port and maritime sector in the country. Participants of the event are expected to include decision makers from port operators, banks and financial institutions, ship owners, technology providers, entrepreneurs, investors, etc. Reserve your seat now!
