1,650 MW power plants come onstream this year on Java-Bali grid

Three coal fired power plants with a combined capacity of 1,650 MW are scheduled to come onstream on the Java Bali grid, a senior official of state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) said.

The three power plants are PLTU Adipala (660 MW), and PLTU Karangkandri Unit 2-Cilacap Expansion 660 MW, and PLTU Tanjung Awar-Awar Unit 2 (330 MW), Nasri Sebayang, PLN?s Director for Java-Bali said to Petromindo.

?All the plants are nearing completion. PLTU Tanjung Awar-Awar is most ready for operation. It?s currently in commissioning stage,? Sebayang added.

The Adipala and Tanjung Awar-Awar power plants are developed by PLN, while PLTU Karangkandri Unit 2 is developed by PT Sumber Segara Primadaya.

?In Bali, there is no new power scheduled to come onstream this year. But the end of last year, PLTU Celukan Bawang achieved Commercial Operation Date,? Sebayang said.
