President director of PLN Djuanda Nugraha Ibrahim said in Jakarta on Friday that as many as 102 companies will join the pre-qualification process to build six coal-fired power plants in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

He said that the 102 companies had taken a total of 217 tender documents to join the pre-qualification process for the construction of the six coal-fired power plants.

"The auction committee is preparing a new addendum in the tender procedure to accommodate some suggestions for a wider participation in the pre-qualification process," he said.

Djuanda said that the new addendum which would be added to the bidding document would be issued by the end of June. "The participants should submit their tender documents one month after the issuance of addendum or by the end of July," he added.

He said that the evaluation process of the tender documents submitted by the participants would be carried in the third week of July so that in August companies qualified to join the tender could be short-listed.

According to him, the qualified tender participants which would become independent power producers should submit their final bids in November so that the announcement of the winners could be made in December as scheduled. (godang)
