11 Cement producers, 6 power plants use illegal coal

Director General of General Mining Surna Tjahja Djajadiningrat revealed over the weekend that eleven cement producers and six power plants had been using coals supplied by illegal miners.
"I have sent letters to buyers who intentionally or not have bought illegal coal," he said.
The 11 cement producers include Semen Andalas, Semen Padang, Semen Baturaja, Semen Cibinong, Tonasa, Kupang, Semen Nusantara and Kodeco Cement.
The six power plants include Suralaya steam power plant, Bukit Asam, Paiton, Ombilin and Sijanjang.
The 11 cement producers and six power plants were among 25 companies consuming illegal coals.
Other companies consuming illegal coals include Aneka Tambang, Timah, Krakatau Steel, Newmont Minahasa, Tjiwi Kimia, Inti Indorayon Utama, Indah Kiat and Jaya Kertas.
Surna said his party appealed to those companies to stop buying illegal coals. Otherwise, he said, his ministry would report them to law enforcers. (*)
