11 coys eyeing E. Java geothermal prospects

11 companies are participating in a bid to develop two geothermal concessions in East Java with winners expected to be announced late this year, a government official said on Wednesday.

Sugiarto Harsoprayitno, Director of Geothermal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said the East Java provincial government will award 35-year concession to develop the two prospects.

According to Sugiarto, Telaga Ngebel prospect which is located in Ponorogo and Madiun regencies has potential to generate 120MW of electricity, while Blawan-Ijen prospect in Banyuwangi, Bondowoso and Situbondo regencies could generate 270MW of electricity.

The bidders are: 1)PT Bakrie Power, 2)PT Supreme Energy, 3)PT Rekayasa Industri Indonesia (REKIND), 4)PT Nusam Energy International, 5)PT Rabana Gasindo Makmur, 6)PT Cahaya Ijen Energy, 7)PT Cahaya Willis Energy, 8)PT Zaskya, 9)PT Arti Duta Aneka Usaha, 10)PT Geo Artha Sentosa and 11)PT Deira Sygisindo.
