12 coal and gold mining projects under construction

As many as 12 coal and gold mining projects are currently under construction in Kalimantan , Sulawesi and Riau, according to data issued by the ministry of energy and mineral resources.

Sukhyar, the secretary of the director general of energy and mineral resources, told Investor Daily on Monday that the 12 projects, comprised of six coal mines, and six gold mines, were expected to begin production within the next two years.

The operators of the gold mine projects included Kapuas Aluvial in West Kalimantan, Aston Mercubuana Mining in Central Kalimantan, Kasongan Bumi Kencana in Central Kalimantan, Avocet Bolaang Mongondow in North Sulawesi and Meares Soputan Mining in North Sulawesi.

"One of them, Avocet Bolaang has begun its production activities," Sukhyar said.

Meanwhile, the operators of the coal mining projects included Kalimantan Energy Lestari in South Kalimantan,Riau Baraharum in Riau, Trubaindo Mining in East Kalimantan, Dharma Puspita Mining in East Kalimantan, Perkasa Inakakerta in East Kalimantan, Liang Anggang Cemerlang in South Kalimantan and Mantimin Coal Mining in South Kalimantan.

The new mining projects are expected to further increase Indonesia's coal and gold production. (*)
