About 132 million of fuel imported by state owned oil and gas company Pertamina has begun to arrive in the country's major oil terminals, giving a further boost to the country's declining fuel stocks, Media Indonesia reported on Saturday.
Pertamina's president director Widya Purnama said on Friday that part of the imported fuel would arrive in Indonesian ports this week. About 32 million litters of the imported fuel will be unloaded at Pertamina's Tanjung Derem oil terminal, and the remaining 100 million liters will be shipped to Pertamina's Teluk Semangka and Tanjung Uban oil terminals.
He said that the imported fuel was expected to further strengthen the country's fuel stocks which have significantly dropped due to the sharp increase in the demand during the past several weeks.
"With the additional supply, we hope the national fuel
stock would be enough for 20-day consumption," he said, adding that the stock would be further increased so that it would reach the safe level or enough for 22-day consumption.
He said the stocks were considered safe if the existing stocks were enough to meet the demand for 22 days. (*)
