14 groups compete in PLN’s LNG terminal tender

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said Thursday it had received 33 prequalification bids submitted by 14 groups of companies for the EPC contract for proposed LNG receiving terminal and re-gasification facilities project in Bojonegara, Banten province.

PLN separates the project in three lots; which include (1) Tank EPC Contract to build two single containment double walls LNG tanks above ground with volume of 125,000 m3 each; (2) Offshore EPC Contract: including some 8 kms channel turning basin and berth for approximately 75,000 to 135,000 m3 LNG tanker size and other related works; (3) Main EPC Contract: including all works not specified in lot (1) and (2).

PLN director Ali Herman Ibrahim said several companies have submitted bids for more than one projects.

The 14 groups are Hyundai-Thiess, PT SAC Nusantara, Taisei-Rinkai, CHEC-ADHI-RUKINDO, Mitsui-Waskita-Sumitomo, PT Petrosea, PT Tripatra-Fluor Daniel, Daewo, Tractebel, Marubeni, Toyo Kanematsu, Mitsubishi, PT Rekayasa Industri, Ishikawajima, Sofregaz, JFE Engineering Corp, PT Decorient Indonesia.

Another PLN senior official told Petromindo.Com earlier that EPC Contract winners might be decided in October this year, with the terminal construction seen to be completed in two years time. (godang)
