141.7 MW bio power plants to come onstream this year

Dozens of bioenergy-fired power plants with a combined capacity of 141.7 MW are scheduled to come onstream this year, according to the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The EBTKE said in a statement on Wednesday the power plants are scattered in Java, Sumatra, Bali, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and Maluku. Some of them are built by the EBTKE and other governmental institutions using the state budget, while the others by Independent Power Producers (IPP).

The power plants are as follows:
1. POME (Palm Oil Mill Effluent) biogas power plant in North Sumatra (2x1 MW) developed by EBTKE.
2. Biogas power plant (1 MW) in East Kalimantan by EBTKE
3. POME biogas power plant (1 MW) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) by EBTKE
4. Waste power plant (1 MW) in Palembang, South Sumatra by EBTKE
5. City waste power plant (7 MW) in Surakarta, Central Java by the Surakarta mayoralty
6. Biomass and city waste power plant in Bali (0.4 MW for biomass and 1.7 MW for city waste) by PT Charta Putra
7. Excess power of palm waste power plant in North Sumatra (7 MW) by state owned plantation firm PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III
8. POME biogas power plant in North Sumatra (2 MW) by PT Pratama
9. Palm waste power plant in East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan (6 MW and 10 MW respectively) by PT Kencana Group
10. Palm waste power plant in Tanjung Baru, Pangkalan Kerinci and Karimun Jawa (2 MW, 2.5 MW and 1 MW respectively) by PT Prima Gasifikasi Indonesia
11. POME biogas power plant in North Sumatra and West Kalimantan (each 2 MW) and in two locations in Riau (each 1 MW) by PT Karya Mas Energi
12. POME biogas power plant (3.1 MW) by PT REA Kaltim Plantations
13. Palm waste power plant in West Kalimantan (10 MW), Jambi (10 MW) and two locations in North Sumatra (each 10 MW) by Growth Steel Group (GSG).
14. City waste power plant in Bekasi (3 MW) by PT Gikoko Kogyo
15. City waste power plant in Surabaya (9 MW) by PT Sumber Organik
16. Forest energy power plant (10 MW) in South Sulawesi by PT Cakrawala Agro.
