2 Petronas fields to come into production in Q4

Two oil and gas fields operated by Malaysian firm Petronas Carigali Ltd, namely the Kepodang field in Muriah PSC, offshore Central Java, and Bukit Tua field in Ketapang PSC offshore East Java, are expected to come onstream in the fourth quarter of this year, upstream authority SKK Migas announced on Wednesday.

Kepodang will produce 116 mmscfd of gas, while Bukit Tua will produce 20,000 bpd of oil and 70 mmscfd of gas, according to SKK Migas.

As part of the preparation for the production, Petronas has carried out an on-the-job-training program for its workers in which 20 of its workers were placed in Santos and PT Kangean Energi Indonesia, two PSCs which are already in production phase, Lambok H. Hutauruk, Deputy of Business Support Control at SKK Migas, said.

Lambok noted that Indonesia now experiences a shortage of skilled petrotechnical manpower. The on-the-job-training program is expected to make them well prepared for the operation of the fields once they come into production.
