The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has recently decided to revise down the percentage and tonnage of this year's Domestic market obligation (DMO) through the release of a new ministerial decree.
The Ministerial Decree 909.K/30/DJB/2012 has been recently issued as a revision to the Ministerial Decree 1991 K/30 MEM/2011 regarding The Needs and Minimum Percentage of Coal Sales for Domestic Use in 2012.
The decree revises down coal needs for domestic purposes from 82.07 million tons to 67.25 million tons, with the percentage revised from 24.72 percent to 20.47 percent from the expected total national coal production of 332 million tons (according to the Ministerial Decree 1991 K/30 MEM/2011).
"In accordance with the domestic coal need compliance supervision for 2012, there has been a significant data alteration in which the state electricity company PLN has revised down its coal needs estimation for this year, as stated within the PLN Director Letter 2565/121/DIVBAT/2012 dated 4 September 2012, in addition to the increasing/decreasing production tonnage estimation by several CCOW companies," the ministry said in a statement.
