21 mining, energy companies receive Comdev awards

As many as seven oil and gas firms, seven mining companies and seven power suppliers Monday received awards from President Megawati Sukarnoputri for their outstanding contribution to community development (Comdev) in their areas of operation.

The oil and gas firms were BP Indonesia, PT Exspan Nusantara, PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia, state oil and gas firm Pertamina, state gas transmission and distribution company PGN, PT Arun NGL Co., and Vico Indonesia. The mining firms were PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Berau Coal, PT Inco, PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku.

Meanwhile, utility companies also receiving awards from the president were PT Riau Prima Energy, PT Power Gen Jawa Timur, Unocal Geothermal of Indonesia Ltd, Amoseas Indonesia Inc, and state-owned firms PLN, Perum Jasa Tirta II and PT Indonesia Power.

On the same occasion, the President presented community development awards to five regency/city administrations namely Banjarnegara (Central Java), Bontang (East Kalimantan), Tabalong (South Kalimantan), Berau (East Kalimantan) and Malang (East Java).

Several community leaders also on Monday received awards from the President for their distinguished service for the welfare of people in their areas. (godang)
