Twenty three oil and gas contractors have failed to meet the oil production target mainly due to various operational problems, upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS said Wednesday.

?Of the 40 companies which are producing, 23 are only able produce about 77 percent of their respective targets, while the other 17 can produce above their respective targets,? BPMIGAS? Chairman R. Priyono said.

He did not specify the contractors that failed to meet target, while the 17 companies that meet target are specified in the below table.

As of April, the national oil production averaged 956,000 barrels per day (bpd) or lower than the target of 960,000 bpd set in the 2009 state budget. (Bernard)
