The 26 new oil wells are located in the Beji forest area, the Bogo Sasono Village Cooperative Unit (KUD) chief Jiyanto told Antara here on Sunday.
Jiyanto said that, compared to oil wells in Wonocolo and Hargomulyo villages, the new wells in Beji would be quite large.
According to him, it could be seen from the Bogo Sasono well (BS.02) which had been drilled. When it was first explored it gushed crude oil mixed with water 15 meters high.
"Based on that fact, we are predicting that crude oil reserves in that well (BS.02) could produce at least 25,000 liters (more than 100 barrels) a day," Jiyanto said.
He added that the new wells would not be managed by his cooperative alone, but would be a joint effort involving the participation of local people, state-oil company Pertamina and PT Trifika Metha Patra Wiseska, a private company from Jakarta. (*)
