27 firms plan to build fuel terminals: Minister

At least 27 companies will build fuel terminals in North Sumatra, Riau, Jakarta, Banten, Central Java, East Java, West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan, Kontan reported on Tuesday.

State Minister for State Enterprises Mustafa Abubakar said in Jakarta on Monday that 23 of the companies have obtained permits from related government offices for the construction of the fuel terminals.

Director General of Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Evita Herawati Legowo confirmed about the 27 companies? plans to build the fuel terminals. But she was reluctant to give more detailed information about the plan.

There are several fuel terminals in the country at present. Among the biggest are the Banten terminal with a capacity of 200,000 kiloliters, the Plumpang terminal in North Jakarta, with a capacity of 300,000 kiloliters, and the Vopak terminal in Tanjung Priok with a capacity of 250,000 kiloliters.
