Three consortiums, including one consortium that groups together companies such as Rekayasa Industri and Tripatra E&C, have passed the pre-qualification tender process for the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) for a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) plant to be deployed in Abadi field within Masela block in Arafura Sea.
Albert Stevens, President Director of Tripatra, confirmed to petromindo.com that Tripatra has made it to the next round of the tender.
The confirmation also came from BPMIGAS spokesman Gde Pradnyana. He said the three consortiums are:
- Consortium A (PT Saipem Ind, Saipem SA, Rekayasa Industri, Tripatra E&C, Tripatra Eng, SBM, Chiyoda II, Chiyoda Corp, Shipyard Hyundai HI);
- Consortium B (JGC Corp, PT JGJ Ind, PT Technip Eng, Technip France, Medec Inc, S Yard Samsung HI) and
- Consortium C (Petrofac Int, Foster Wheeler, Bluewater Energy BV, IKPT, Petrofac IKPT, PT RNZ Eng Ind, S Yard STX Offshore & SB-Korea).
FEED for the floating processing plant is separate from FEED for Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF), which is still ongoing. Operator Inpex is expected to announce the FEEDs in second semester this year.
The Masela block is offshore area of 3,221 km2 with water depth ranging from 400 meters to 800 meters. The Abadi gas field was discovered in 2000, and the subsequent six appraisal wells and study results confirmed the sufficient gas reserves for LNG development.
The FLNG is expected to have a capacity to process 2.5 million tons per annum of LNG, and it will be the first of its kind in Indonesia.
