4,000 BPD of crude stolen in S. Sumatra

Some 4,000 barrels of crude are stolen on daily basis from the pipeline in South Sumatra and Jambi area, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said as quoted by Metro Jambi.
Chief of Representative for Southern part of Sumatra area Jufri T Noor, said that the area produced 98,000 barrel per day of crude oil which were piped to their respective gathering stations.
The perpetrators, he said put holes in the pipes and take the crude out. The theft had been recurring for several years now.
According to him, among the PSC contractors suffering from the theft are PetroChina, Medco, ConocoPhillips and Pertamina. (*)
