Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo has inaugurated the operation of a new gas pipeline network for 4,600 households in Wonosari village, North Prabumulih, South Sumatra.

"This network is a government's program to convert oil based fuels to gas," Susilo said in a statement over the weekend.

The conversion program for households was started in 2009, with cities of Palembang and Surabaya becoming the pilot projects.

Up to the end of 2012, a series of new networks has connected 56,000 households. This year, in addition to households in Prabumulih, pipeline networks will also be built in Subang, Sidoarjo, Ogan Ilir, Blora and Sorong.
