4 more wells to be drilled in Tangguh

Japanese oil and gas giant Inpex Corporation, a partner of operator BP Plc at the Tangguh natural gas project in West Papua, said that up to 4 wells will be drilled starting June.

Inpex holds a 7.79 percent non-operator participating interest in the project, with BP as operator controlling a 37.16 percent interest.

Senior Operation Geologist Kurnia Chalik told Petromindo.com on Wednesday in Jakarta at the sidelines of annual convention and exhibition of Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) that the drilling program was a continuous effort by the Tangguh consortium of shareholders in search for new reserves.

At present, natural gas is sourced from six fields -- namely, Vorwata, Wiriagar Deep, Ofaweri, Roabiba, Ubadari, and Wos, to supply Tangguh LNG plant which is now in the early stage of developing a third processing facility (Train 3).
