A Central Kalimantan company, PT Samaju Eka Pratama, was preparing to export 40,000 tons of illegal coal to India despite the gubernatorial decree banning shipment of illegal coal from the province.
Kapos daily daily said the coals, which were illegally produced, in the Satui and Pantai districts, had been transported to the Kotabaru port, whence they would be sent to India by the Pacific Pioneer ship.
Investigation by the paper revealed that Samaju Eka Pratama had gained permission from the anti-illegal coal coordinating team formed by the provincial administration for the planned coal shipment.
The permission was awarded to the company despite the decree recently issued by the province's governor banning shipment of illegal coal from the province from July 15 to August 1 this year.
Kotabaru mayor Sjachrani Mataja said he had ordered an investigation into the case, the paper said. (*)
