State electricity company PT PLN needs an estimated US$450 million for extending power units at several power plants already in operation under the Java-Bali power transmission system, Suara Karya daily reported.
But PLN president director Eddie Widiono declined to disclose from where the $450 million fund might come.
Eddie only said the extended units would be at several power plants including Muara Karang and Tanjung Priok combine cycle power plants.
PLN had proposed its plan of extending power generation units to the director general of electricity and energy utilization at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Eddie said if their proposal was accepted, the extended units might have to use oil fuel due to gas supply shortage. (*)
